Annvita English Tea Room *.

😻 Annvita English Tea Room

I came to Annvita English Tea Room for an afternoon girly tea session with Eva. I think this place originated from Shanghai - I haven't visited the Shanghai location before.

This place is great for a girly chat session - the chairs were pretty comfy. We were there for a good 3-5 hours LOL

All the Chinaware were Annvita - customized! Pretty for photos

Service was good. I really liked how they sectioned off tables by putting a blue curtain between each table. This gave everyone more privacy. The interior is decorated with a blue theme.

* Tea selection

The tea selection was limited to 8 choices. One of the more entertaining tea names was "Annvita gun powder" hahaha. I wasn't feeling that adventurous so I chose one of the safer options - earl grey tea with milk.

😻 Other tea selections

* Highlights from the Afternoon tea menu:

- green tea flavoured millie crepe
- scones
- butter cookies
- meat + pringles chips
- fried shrimp and cookies

😻 Below are pictures of each tier of our high tea set :)

Just when we thought we were done, more food came! We both agreed that we would give minus points to this place only because they expect us to eat wayy too much LOL

* Mango pudding

* Vanilla ice cream Belgian waffles

* The area near the front entrance: different types of tea and tea sets available for purchase.

We were super stuffed already so we spent quite a bit of time here trying not to put all these foods to waste. Overall, we had a good experience :)

Snow Time *.

Omo Omo! Snow Time became Eva and I's new it-spot :D

The interior is similar to your typical Korean drama cafes haha.
The theme is the characters from LINE (an app) and they even have a big teddy of Song Joong Ki !! Obviously we took pictures with that one!!

We came here during the weekend and there were surprisingly a lot of empty tables. Service was excellent. You order at the counter and receive a beeper, which will indicate when your item is ready to be picked up. Chairs and sofas are nice and comfy - great for a girls night out :)

* INJEOMI BINGSOO (4/5)
(Red bean, almonds, mochi and peanut powder with milky shaved ice & condensed milk)

LOVE THIS! This was one of the highly recommended items on the menu so we gave this a shot. Sooo good!

My favourite item is the mochi.. It's chewy and flavourful because of the peanut powder. I also liked the shaved ice, it looks like coconut flakes but tastes like condensed milk. Condensed milk can be added on top too (You'll be missing out if you don't add it haha)

Found a suiting picture of me and Eva relating to "Snow Time" LOL

We will return to try the other shaved ice flavours!

Life Cafe *.

Light cafe gets 3.5/5 stars (I rounded up) haha.
Karen, Moni and I had to kill time for 3 hours and head over to my friend's house party.. so we came here!

I've seen photos of Light Cafe on Instagram and decided to give it a try.

Service was good enough for me but Moni wouldn't agree because it took her forever to get her drink. It also took her a long time to flag a server down to ask about her missing drink.

The interior of the cafe is very warm and cozy. It reminds me of the cafe they have at the bottom floor of Taipei 101. They had a wall of leaves at the front of the store. Too bad we were seated at the back - we couldn't take pictures with the wall as a background. This place is great for a hangout with friends / date. I wouldn't recommend coming here if you have a big group of more than 6 people though.

DRINKS:

* CHOCOLATE AU LAIT 巧克力歐蕾 (2/5)

It was cold D: Why was it cold D:
2 points for the taste because it was actually yummy but it was supposed to be a sizzling hot drink, not lukewarm. The picture above shows how unconventional the spoon actually is.. LOL It's a cute design but why would anyone want to put their spoon like that across the cup.. ??? hahaha

* COTTON CANDY COFFEE 棉花糖咖啡 (3/5)

This looks like a science experiment haha. Moni ordered this.
You should order this for your Instagram photos. As for taste, it tastes like any other coffee.
You'll be paying $6.25 for the love of photos haha.

TRUFFLE MUSHROOM CROISSANT 菇菇菇可頌 (4/5)
(Sauteed mushroom, beef, tomato, lettuce, truffle mayo & butter croissant)

Light Cafe got most of its stars from this croissant! It's yummyyy!!

Love the truffle mayo, they put a lot in the croissant (even the corners.. yay!). This dish has salad and fruits as a side. This is like a dinner portion to me because it was very filling.

The Old Curiosity Tea Shop *.

I had a lovely afternoon tea session with Karen & Moni at The Old Curiosity Tea Shop

Our server was super sweet and friendly. He knew the menu very thoroughly and checked on us in good intervals. The interior of this tea shop has a Victorian style, different styles of teapots are distributed everywhere (even on the ceilings).

We hope they super glued them well because they have a high potential to do so much damage hahaha. We were joking and said if there ever was an earthquake here, this is the last place we would visit with all them teapots LOL.

The pricing is decent for the afternoon tea set. It is $25 per person for the items listed below.

For tea, we chose:

* Earl Grey Tea with Cream
It is supposed to have a hint of vanilla flavour but we couldn't really taste it.

First set of the two-tiered afternoon tea set are sandwiches with a mixture of:

* Granny apples
* Cucumbers
* Ham
* Egg

Second set of the two-tiered afternoon tea set are desserts that included:

* Pecan tarts
* Raspberry filled butter cookies
* Gingerbread cookies
* Scones (comes with jam and cream that were said to be imported from England)

My favourites were the scones and the granny apple filled sandwiches.
The highlight from the sandwiches were the raisin bread.. Mmm soo good!

We were super stuffed from this.. We didn't need dinner lol. After our tea session, we headed for a movie night. Watched "Why Him?" starring James Franco. It's pretty funny hahaha

Copacabana - Eglinton *.

😻 Birthday Post Continued! 😻

😍 I came to Copacabana for my birthday celebration with my family. 😍

We came on a weeknight and it was actually hard getting reservations because of corporate Christmas events. Book in advance if you plan on coming here in near the holiday season!

Service was great. Both our waitress and the waiters who come out with the meats were very friendly.

You'll be given a coaster which has red and blue on either sides. Red represents "NO MORE MEAT!", and blue represents "PLEASE FEED ME MORE!". We successfully went through many rounds of "Blue".

This is mainly because we had 3 guys at our table, who are competitive carnivores *thumbs up*. Part of the reason why we were able to go through so many rounds was because the "meat waiters" challenged the guys' meat-ability. The situation went down like this:
Meat-waiter: "COM'ON.. CAN YOU HANDLE MORE?!"

Our tables' competitive carnivores:
*insert silent nod* and *flips coaster to blue* hahaha

Highlights of the night include:

* Parmesan cheese rib eye
* Cheese infused prime ribs
* Chimichurri steak
* Corn bread
(This was so gooood! We were planning not to try it but I was like.. meh, why not. Glad I did. The bread was sweet and spongy!)
* Fried bananas

Mabu Generation *.

😻 Happy New Year everyone!! 😻

* My friends and I started off the New Year with a 90's theme party!!
P's a 90's wrestler (eye roll LOL) and I'm a beanie baby!

* The theme continues with ring pops, NERDS, hubba bubba (do they even sell these anymore?!) and fun dip (I've never had fun dip before.. still haven't hahaha)

* Power rangers shot glasses are on point!

* I took videos of the yoyo, nerf guns (VICIOUS!) and pong cards station at the back.. but not pictures :(

* HI KAREN! Remember these CALCULATORS?! But they were so 2000s haha
I'm starting off the new year with a foodblog post in Markham! More belated birthday posts to come :)

Mabu Generation! So much hype for this place located at First Markham Place.

We had to wait 15-20 minutes for a seat. I don't think it was that bad of a wait considering we never reserved a table in advance. Service was okay. It was hard to flag a server to order our meal, but it was understandable because it was so busy during dinner time.

Reading the menu was like reading an instruction manual.. There were SO many options on the menu. It's great that there are options but it took us a good 15 minutes to pin down our first 3 items to order haha.

** Tidbit! ** You will receive a freebie dessert or $6.99 worth of drinks if you post a photo of their food promoting their restaurant.

GRILLED BEEF TONGUE WITH SEA SALT & BLACK PEPPER (3/5)
The flavour and texture was great. The 2 points is lacking because it came COLD! It was probably sitting there in the kitchen for a while.. It isn't supposed to be a cold dish!

GRILLED RICE BALL WITH BUTTER, SALMON & PORK (4/5)
Recommending this! This dish came sizzling hot. The outside crust was very crispy and the rice in the inside was nice and soft. The rice had a teriyaki flavour, which was delicious.

BAKED SEAFOOD WITH AVOCADO & CHEESE (1/5)
It sounds yummy right?! That's what I thought until I tried it. Omg don't order this. I'm a huge fan of avocados and I don't usually hate its taste but I don't know what went wrong with this combination.

OKONOMIYAKI (4/5)
I liked this! Lots of flavour - it  came sizzling hot. There's a mix of egg, pancake, Japanese okonomiyaki sauce and bonito flakes. It was a seafood filled okonomiyaki with shrimp, calamari and imitation crab.

JAPANESE STYLE CURRY PORK CHOP ON RICE (4/5)
The flavour of the curry pork cutlet was okay but I'm giving this a high score because I think it's worth the money. The portion is really big. You can share this amongst two people. Side dishes as part of the curry pork cutlet rice includes salad with sesame sauce, ketchup and fries.

JAPANESE STYLE SUKIYAKI HOT POT (3/5)
This hot pot came with sliced beef, meat ball, cuttlefish ball, fish tofu, imitation crab stick, kamaboko, rice cake, tofu, onion, sliced white turnip, nappa (veggie), enoki mushroom, cabbage, corn, mushrooms and udon. The mishap that came with this dish was that they didn't give us the udon noodles.. Good thing we remembered! The taste of the soup isn't too strong, if you're looking for something sweet and light tasting then I'd recommend this one.
