Toppoki *.

Came to Toppoki for a light snack.
Service was great but could be faster.

Seems like most people order take out rather than sit in because the restaurant is boutique-sized.

OH!DENG (4/5)

This was a huge chunk of fishcake that's dipped in a hot and peppery soup. This was delicious! I'll order this when I revisit - great choice for the cold weather.

TOPPOKI (3.5/5)

I liked the toppoki sauce :) Not too spicy and the rice cakes were delish!

T-GIM (3/5)

(fried dumplings, japchae wrapped with seaweed, fried calamari)

I felt like these items would've been better if there was more sauce. It was yummy but I would've liked it more if they had a spicy sauce to pair it up (we got soy sauce with it)

* The trick is to dip these goodies with the Toppoki sauce!

Kit Kat Italian Bar & Grill *.

Came to Kit Kat Italian Bar & Grill for a GNO dinner session.
We made reservations beforehand - this place is boutique-sized and gets packed very quickly during prime time.

Outside of Kit Kat:

Service was extremely slow. Our waitress was no where to be seen hahaha.. This might be because she knew our food wasn't ready yet but saw our hangree faces.. *avoids O_O

ANGELHAIR BASILICO - PASTA (2.5/5)
(with Basil & Plum Tomato Sauce + Chicken)

This was meeeh :( I usually like angelhair pastas but the taste of this pasta became bland really quickly. The chicken bits, which I've added to my meal, were very dry and it was not marinated with the sauce of the pasta so the flavour seemed out of place.

KAKA all you can eat *.

Tried out KAKA all you can eat - I heard it was hard to make reservations so we booked a table on a weeknight for dinner.

You get a 2 hour limit seating, which I think is enough time since all the food came really quickly (they actually made everything super fast!).
Service was great.

Here are some pictures of the food we ordered throughout the night:

Highlights:

* soft boiled egg (appetizer)

* torched beef sushi
* teppan grilled shrimp
* ikura sushi

* mango slush dessert
* hokkaido milk tea crème brûlée

Too much hype:

* pressed sushi (it was just okay..)
* spicy salmon sushi (this wasn't fresh)
* grilled salmon belly (too oily)

We were sooo STUFFED! 2 hour seating was definitely enough... D:

Sansotei Ramen - Markham *.

We came here as a group of 3 for an early dinner.
I was actually surprised to see lines build up for a restaurant in uptown - I rarely see that happen (except for bubble tea shops!).

Service was excellent - we had 3 different waitresses serve us and all of them were great.

GYOZA (3/5)

SPICY SLOW COOKED CHICKEN WINGS (4/5)
I liked this one but the portions were small.

TOKOTSU BLACK RAMEN (2.5/5)
(pork belly, black fungus, egg, green onion, garlic, oil)

I thought the soup base was too salty. The thin noodles, pork belly and other ingredients within the ramen was okay but the more I ate the ramen, the more salty everything became lol. I'll probably order just the TONKOTSU soup base next time..

Frank's Kitchen *.

Peter brought me to Frank's Kitchen for a #petersurprise #monthlyanniversary dinner  thanks bb

* IG Highlight: Poached Lobster *.

The atmosphere was cozy and the service was excellent.

Our waiter was very knowledgeable with the menu - not sure how often the specials of the day changes, but he got those lines memorized pretty well - we heard him say the same lines way too many times as the night progressed haha.

DRINKS:

Napa Cellars Chardonnay 2013
[Chardonnary is my fav! I actually chose seafood so I can pair it with my wine hahaha]

Beer - Beau's

Bread with white french truffle butter were on the house.

I've always loved truffles and there was a lot of its flavour in the butter. We finished this up really quickly haha.

AMUSE-BOUCHE (2/5)
A miniature tart topped with goat cheese.

APPETIZERS:

BAKED OYSTERS ROCKEFELLER (5/5)
(spinach, bacon and hollandaise sauce)

This was DELISH!
I'd recommend this, the hollandaise sauce was amazing. A very light appetizer to start with.
Note: For those who do not like raw oysters, the oysters are cooked semi-raw.

DUO OF RAW (3/5)
(tuna carpaccio and tartare with cucumber, avocado and lemon olive oil vinaigrette)

This dish was yummy but it didn't stand out as much as the baked oysters rockefeller.
The highlight of this dish would be the tuna tartare - very fresh!

MAINS:

CATCH OF THE DAY - POACHED LOBSTER (5/5)
I loved the poached lobster. At first when the dish came I thought to myself, this is not enough (I was very "hangry"!!). But as the night progressed, I realized this dish is actually pretty filling. The sauce is cream-based and it paired well with the lobster tail and claw meat. Delicious! If they have the poached lobster as the catch of the day again, I'll probably reorder this!

AGED BEEF STRIPLOIN WITH SHAVED TRUFFLES (4/5)
(with shallot jus and a side of parmesan frites)

My boyfriend ordered the beef striploin. He loved it. The truffles are shaved on top of the striploin by the waiter when the dish is served. They actually put quite a bit of truffles on top so I was very happy :D

PARMESAN FRITES (came with the beef striploin)
I kept nomming P's truffles toppings muahaha

The beef was very tender and the paramesan frites were tasty too.
It wasn't too dry since they provide a dipping sauce with it.

The two complimentary chocolate truffles was a nice touch at the end of our meal :)
Great place and lovely atmosphere. *cute surprise since I usually guess the resto right* :P

Sweet O'clock *.

My friends have been telling me that the SUPREME MANGO CRUSHED ICE dessert at Sweet O'clock is a must try item on the menu.
Sure enough, they have gained trusty-friend points haha, it WAS delicious! :D
Although it was super cold outside, I was really craving for anything-mango-related-desserts. So P & I came here :)
Had a nice window seat too - not too packed as I thought it would be.

SUPREME MANGO CRUSHED ICE (4/5)
The mangoes were in huge chunks and the best part about this is that the crushed ice is from condensed milk!
(Big fan of condensed milk - sooo good.)
It also came with a big scoop of mango ice cream.
It was surprisingly a light dessert - we didn't feel overly stuffed after eating :P
