Teppan Kenta *.

PB and I came to Teppan Kenta prior to a show downtown.

I'd say, a very educational show :D
Side note: It's called Big Mouth - the main focus is on one person, a Belgian actor, Valentijn Dhaenens, who pays tribute to 2,500 years of oration.

Our visit to Teppan Kenta was rather disappointing though as we saw many 4+ stars reviews on Yelp.

The hype was too high :(

Service, on the other hand, was great! Peter made reservations hence the sign hahaha.
あ~ ピーター名前のタグは少しびっくりした haha

DASHIMAKI (4/5)
(Fresh Seaweed Omelette with Japanese Broth)

This was the best pick out of all the dishes we ordered for the night. The broth that they cooked the omelette in, was delicious! The egg was so smooth, eat it while it's sizzling hot! :)

AGEDASHI (1/5)
(Deep Fried Tofu in Seaweed Broth)

I'm a big fan of agedashi tofus but this dish just wasn't good. The broth was not hot enough (it was room temperature - lukewarm :S). The tofus weren't yummy either.

EBI CHEESE (1/5)
(Shrimp and Potato Cheese Melt)

This was probably the worst dish we ordered all night lol. It's more like a stir-fry of shrimp and potato without any taste of cheese.  Both the shrimp and potato did not taste marinated. Very flat dish. Will not order this again.

GRILLED T-BONE STEAK (1/5)

We asked for medium rare but it was way over cooked. Beef was hard to chew on and had no taste to it. On the bright side, they made it look pretty.

DX OKONOMIYAKI (1/5)
(Japanese Pancake with Pork, Squid and Shrimp)

There are way too much veggies in this! There're two thin (very thin) slices of pancake and not enough pork, squid nor shrimp. I would prefer this if they added more sauce. Didn't enjoy this dish - but on the plus side, it was very hot (unlike the agedashi).

* ch3rieberry & ch3riebelly IG *.

Hello IG friends!

I've started another IG account to upload my food pictures from my past and current food adventures around the world :)

I'll be using both accounts, linked here:

@ch3rieberry for #travelwithcherie and lifestyle account

@ch3riebelly for #eatwithcherie (includes food from my travels as well)

Big thanks to my talented cuzzie, Keith, for designing my new IG's logo, he came up with it with my very detailed description of "something to do with cherie and maybe a cat" haha.
Now it's a cherie x cat combo, two-in-one :D tyty!

Continuing to foodblog,
Cherie

Pai Northern Thai Kitchen *.

Pai doesn't disappoint!

Came here for the second time with PB. I liked the table we got this time, it was on the right side once you walk in from the main entrance. Last time we came here, we were seated on the left side - I feel like they have chairs that were less comfy / maybe it was too crowded too ?_?

GRABONG (4/5)
(Vegetarian deep fried battered squash fritters with a garlic tamarind dip)

This was delicious - I'd like to think that these squash fritters are a healthy version of fries haha. Its crispy and sweet - will order this again.

TOM YUM NAM SAI KUNG MOR FAI (4/5)
(A savoury, spicy and sour shrimp soup with lemongrass, coriander and green onions. Served with jasmine rice)

I love tom yum soup - last time I only got a small bowl so this time I decided to order the tom yum soup + rice as the main. Loved it! The portions were huge!

GAENG MASAMAN with braised beef (3/5)
(Braised beef in a peanut, tamarind curry with potatoes and topped with deep fried crispy shallots. (contains shrimp paste) with rice)

PB got this one - we asked for mild for the level of spiciness (for the curry) but it was still really spicy. Yummy nonetheless.

The Elm Tree Restaurant *.

Pbb took me to The Elm Tree Restaurant for dinner. #PBsurprise haha
(But then I found out beforehand - whoopsies :D)

The atmosphere is romantic and classy. Service was excellent - a server would bring out our meals, then our main server came over to tell us the dish ingredients, cooking style etc.

DRINKS:

Sauvignon Blanc, Eradus (for me) - more on the sweeter end, which I preferred.
Pinot Grigio, Serenissima (bf)

APPETIZERS:

PAN SEARED SCALLOPS (3/5)
(Seasoned with curry salt, green apple purée)

The scallops were seared perfectly - very delicious. Unfortunately, I didn't think the green apple purée was a good match with the scallops.l, it was too sour. 3 points goes to the scallops though!

MAINS:

DUCK CONFIT (4/5)
(With wild mushroom risotto)

Mm the duck confit was delish! The skin was very crispy with just the right amount of fatty and duck meat. The mushroom risotto was also great - it gets salty after a while but still a great mix with the duck leg.

PAN SEARED CHILEAN SEA BASS (4/5)
(Saffron infused rice, caper meuniere sauce, diced tomato)

For those who would like something more healthy tasting, this is a good choice. A very light dish - the sea bass was tasty and fresh. I enjoyed this dish very much.

DESSERT:

TOFFEE CAKE (5/5)

You would be missing out if you didn't save room for this dessert!! I looooved this toffee cake.
So good - there was a crunchy glazed toffee on top of the vanilla ice cream and the toffee cake is at the bottom. P kept stealing my portions when he was "super full". LOL
I would come back again just to order this dessert.
So so yummy, great end to our meal! Thanks pbb   :)

The Captain's Boil *.

Came to The Captain's Boil for dinner with PB - new to the seafood boil type of cooking.. Loved it! It was so messy though - washed our hands many times haha.

Service was okay - there were many tables available when we arrived but it took a long time for the servers to organize which table to seat us at.

You will definitely need to get your hands dirty for this - they provide you with plastic gloves, which does 60% of its job. I'd suggest you avoid wearing white even though they provide you with a cute bib!
I tried to take "nice" pictures of the boiled seafood but it just looks like leftovers in a plastic bag hahaha :P

Highlight of my favourites:
* King Crab legs
* Clams
* Shrimp

(in Cajun Cajun / Captain's Boil sauce) - Spicy

So yummy!! I have to come back to try their crawfish
It wasn't in season when we went - will re-visit soon :)

Gyugyuya *.

First off, the name of this restaurant is so cute. Gyugyuya! :D
The resto is very bright and yellow heh.

Came here twice with my boyfriend and we got the:

GYU GYU KING CURRY (3.5/5)
(Egg, 1 Tonkatsu, 1 Chicken Katsu, 2 Sausages, 1 Shrimp, Curry with rice)

This is meant for 2 people. It's more than enough! Their curry is really good, it leans towards a sweet side rather than spicy. Out of the selection of foods that come with curry, I think the shrimp is the yummiest. There are also veggies as part of the platter!
